America’s business owners have a love affair with three-dimensional letters. There, we said it. Installing interior 3D lettering in San Diego, CA, is quickly becoming one of the most frequently requested services that we provide. However, did you know that you have options? For example, should you mount them to the wall or suspend the letters from the ceiling?
A Simple Wall Mount? Not Necessarily
Most clients like the idea of having their 3D letters installed directly to a focal wall. It is an excellent way of catching the eye. Besides that, it integrates a brand message as a piece of wall art. That said, there is more than one way to mount your letters to the wall.
- Lightweight materials. Foam and PVC are lightweight materials. The same is true for smaller acrylic or metal products. As a result, our installers can use 3M high-bond, double-sided tape. Our pros measure the spacing and alignment, place the lettering on the wall, and press firmly.
- Standoffs. In some cases, the letters look better when there is some space between them and the wall. This might be the case on bricks, river rocks, or when you like to have a little shadow play. In this situation, standoffs are excellent options. Select a distance that looks great, and we install threaded studs that mount to the wall.
- Rails. If the letters are very heavy – examples might include cast metal – we recommend rails. We mount the rails securely to the wall, frequently by connecting with studs underneath. Next, we install the individual lettering to the rail to ensure proper weight distribution. The letters cover up the rail.
Ceiling Mounts are Excellent for Busy Hallways
Schools, churches, and healthcare facilities are often requesting ceiling-mounted signs. Because administrators understand that hallways get busy, having the signage suspended assists with wayfinding. It also looks chic. Sure, you could opt for a sign panel or blade. However, we can also accommodate individual 3D letters.
- Top stud mounts. For average-sized letters, we recommend threaded studs that we attach to the tops of each letter. Most letters get two studs for even ceiling suspension. Choose any length to support the visual aesthetics you are looking for.
- Top rail. Another choice is the rail. It is suitable for taller as well as more massive letters. The rail ensures the weight distribution of the sign in its entirety. At the same time, it allows for firm installation even when some mounts cannot reach to the studs.
