When Christian Pike served his country in Afghanistan, he stood out for exemplary valor and heroic action. After his selfless action led to his being mortally wounded, it was clear that a grateful nation would honor the sacrifice. Eventually, a building was named after him, and All Star Signs had the honor of preparing personalized memorial plaques for buildings in Coronado, CA.
Dedicating a Building with Letters and a Memorial Plaque
The client requested that we begin with the building’s name for this project. Fabricated stainless steel letters spell out the fallen soldier’s name. We installed them with a bottom rail mount that allows them to stand up on the stylized overhang in front of the building. Technicians applied a dark gray paint with a matte finish, which helped the building sign stand out without overpowering the architecture of the building.
For the memorial plaque, the client commissioned a bronze product with an etched image of the soldier’s likeness. Lettering spells out his heroic actions and honors his actions. Concurrently, the information is sufficiently brief to fit perfectly on the memorial plaque we mounted to a column of the building named in his honor.
Bronze Plaques Have Many Functions
For this client, the bronze product became a memorial plaque to honor exemplary service. However, there are different uses for which bronze plaques would be ideally suited. For example, All Star Sign technicians have designed metal plaques for awards, EVAC maps, and city seals. Most importantly, our shop specializes in using lead and mercury-free bronze.
For example, we have designed, fabricated, and installed plaques for elementary schools, military bases, and colleges. And, if you are keeping a close eye on the budget, consider cast aluminum. It displays a silver color that is chic and fits perfectly on the walls of a contemporary building.
We Work Directly with You or Your Contractor
Whether you are undertaking new construction or are having a contractor handle a remodel of your structure, we can work with you or your chosen representative, which could be the contractor. Moreover, we also work with contracting firms to put together plaques for any need. Some clients want a plaque to remember a specific date, while others want to memorialize the involvement of selected groups in a project.
A Closer Look at Etched Memorial Plaques for Buildings in Coronado, CA
Etching is a process that has the opposite result of casting. It is ideally suited for plaques featuring photos and a lot of lettering. The etching itself creates grooves that make up the images and messages. We fill them will color to be visible and seal them to prevent any dirt from marring the great looks of the product.
